Financing is secured and work is underway on a $39.7 million affordable, senior housing project in Moiliili.

Hale Makana O Moiliili will offer rentals for kupuna 55 and older who are at or below 60% of the area median income.

The six-story building, located on Algaroba Street, will feature 80 studio, one-bath units and 25 one-bedroom, one-bath units, all of which will have walk-in closets, a fully equipped kitchen with energy-efficient appliances, granite counter tops and ceiling fans.

The mid-rise housing project also will include covered parking stalls, bicycle storage and an onsite community center that will offer space for tenant association meetings, social gatherings and program space for nonprofit service agencies.
