Developers have proposed projects that will bring a hotel and affordable senior housing to Honolulu's Chinatown neighborhood.
The hotel is being developed by Ikenakea Development LLC – a partnership between the nonprofit Hawaiian Community Development Board and 3 Leaf Holdings Inc. – while a senior housing project is being developed by Ikenakea Development in partnership with Coastal Rim Properties, Inc., Kali Watson, president and CEO of HCDB and a co-managing partner of Ikenakea Development said in an email to Pacific Business News.
Grant Chang director of architecture, Hawaii for Lowney Architecture has been working with the developers on the hotel design, and recently told PBN that the 17-story, 200-foot proposed hotel would be located between Mauna Kea and Keakaulike streets and have 240 rooms. The hotel also will be adjacent to the Chinatown HART, or Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation, rail station.
Hotel plans also currently call for parking, a sky lobby, fitness center, rooftop restaurant and pool, as well as meeting and community spaces.
